Well folks, we’ve made some progress on the house situation. We’ve decided to build a house, and through much trouble and walking, have changed our minds about a million and ten times. I’m almost sure we’ve got it figured out. The lot we had our hopes set on is just going to be too difficult to cooperate with. The slope on the lot is nearly a 5 foot difference from the back, inside corner of the lot to the sidewalk and the land moving and adjusting is just going to be too much to deal with. *I* suggested leveling it and putting in a wall but apparently that would be “too expensive for the builders” to accomplish. Of course, you would think they would jump at the thought of someone wanting the awkward and difficult lot, as it will naturally be harder to sell, but whatever. We’ve picked another lot in the same community, on same street, and facing the opposite direction (south). If we’re really looking, and if the current land-owners level out the huge hill behind us, we’ll have a tiny sliver of a view of the lake behind us and to the west.
Anyway, we’ve finally finished tweaking the floorplan to the way we want it (and by the way, I have arranged for a jetted tub and a 5x5 walk-in shower in the master bathroom. Ha.) and we suggested an offer tonight. The sales representative of course advised us to increase our offer by about $8k, but I put on my business face and told him we would have to think about it for a couple days.
I’m hoping we can compromise by meeting our numbers in the middle, but I suppose we’ll see.
The dogs and Bobby and I can not WAIT to have a backyard to ourselves. 4-6 months can’t come fast enough.
