I had my first teaching nightmare last night. Here's how it went:
[begin dream scene]
I was on my way to school, and had the brilliant idea to park a little closer so I would be early to class. I went in, and got to my room. I had planned for the kids to watch a video so I set up the TV and put the movie in. The first class never came... I thought that was odd, but I kept on. The second and third class showed up, but they seemed confused about being in Music Class. I shrugged it off as a typical Monday morning. At about 11:00, one of the third grade teachers came into my class and said, "Why are you over here today? Three other teachers are complaining about you not showing up for Music class." Then it hit me. I was in the wrong room. I gathered my lessons and supplies and ran across the school to find that my last class before lunch was being read a story by their homeroom teacher who was not in the least bit impressed. She finished the story as my class time came to an end. We dismissed the kids, and she waited for the door to close before she ripped into me about professionalism and responsibility. I was mortified and it was all I could do to keep from crying my eyes out. When she was finished, she said, "Oh, and by the way, I've started a petition to find a new music teacher by next week. I just have 4 more names to get before I take it to the principal so if I were you, I'd start packing now." She smirked and walked off.
[end dream scene]
Its too early for me to be having nightmares about teaching. Ugh.

Haha! That is hillarious!
ReplyDeleteI've been having a lot of dreams about college lately. I keep dreaming that I'm in a situation where I forgot about a test or an assignment. And I keep having to go through the whole not turning it in and crunching the nubmers to see how I can possibly get an A in the course...or at least a C. Every time I do that I wake up confused, frustrated, and mad at myself! Then I think for a minute and realize that that never happened (much) and that I graduated Cum Laude. I can't help but smile real big and then lay down all content with myself.
I don't like the dreams much though. I may have to do what my Father did, since he was having dreams about being in highschool. He put his diploma on his night stand. Funny stuff.
what a terrible dream! now that I read about yours I'll probably start having some of my own...I have stopped having starbucks nightmares after all.
